White Rock resident Anne Affleck will be riding in the Lung Association Bicycle Trek 2012 for life and breath on Sept. 8-9.

The first time Anne Affleck rode in the BC Lung Association Bicycle Trek was in 1999.

The White Rock resident dedicated the ride to the memory of her grandfather, who died of lung cancer.

Affleck has ridden in many more treks since, and she says there has, sadly, been no shortage of people to honour, including a couple of friends.

The trek is set to run Sept. 8-9.

The goal of the two-day, 200-km ride through the Fraser Valley is to raise money for lung health and air quality research, education and advocacy work.

More than 350 riders are taking part.

Affleck hopes to raise at least $500.

“…but if I get $5,000, that would be great,” she says.

Affleck can be sponsored by going to www.bc.lung.ca/campaigns_and_events/bicycle_trek.html, and clicking on “sponsor a participant” then entering “Anne Affleck” in the search fields.

For more information about the event, visit www.bicycletrek.ca or call the BC Lung Association at 604-731-5864.
