Bleed and Feed event returns

Canadian Blood Services asking public to donate blood and a non-perishable food item.

Canadian Blood Services’ annual “Bleed and Feed” fundraiser is back.

The annual program, in partnership with Food Banks BC, encourages B.C. residents to donate blood and also bring in non-perishable food items for local food banks during the holiday season.

The goal is to collect more than 14,000 blood donations, according to a CBS release.

“We’re so pleased our member food banks across B.C. can partner again with Canadian Blood Services in this unique and collaborative initiative,” said Laura Lansink, executive director of Food Banks BC.

“It’s a win-win proposition for people who want to help fulfill not one, but two, miracles in their community this holiday season.”

The Bleed and Feed volunteers will be at the White Rock blood donor clinic, at Star of the Sea Centre (15262 Pacifice Ave.) Dec. 14 collecting non-perishables.

To make an appointment to donate blood, visit www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2-DONATE.
