The popular bi-annual charity book sale in White Rock is returning this month with low-priced reads for a good cause.

Taking place at White Rock's Peace Arch Curling Centre at Centennial Place, the Rotary Club of White Rock will be hosting their Charity Book Sale, which happens twice yearly. The five-day event will have more than 50,000 books to peruse and purchase with costs as low as $1 per book.

"We are thrilled to host our bi-annual Charity Book Sale and invite the community to join us in supporting a great cause," Keith Becker, book sale committee chair of the Rotary Club of White Rock, said in a news release.

"Every book sold helps make a difference in our community, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of our generous donors and volunteers.”

Rotary states that all proceeds from book sales will go towards community projects and charities, with 70 per cent going towards local initiatives such as community programs, school playground equipment, scholarships and the local food bank. The remaining 30 per cent will go towards international initiatives, the club shared.

The club is also still accepting donations for those in need of doing a declutter of their personal collections. Any and all book donations can be dropped off at the blue bin behind the Rotary Fieldhouse located at 14600 Rotary Way in South Surrey before Aug. 21.

Donations will also be accepted during the book sale, which kicks off on Friday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to about 6 p.m. The following day will operate at the same schedule, with prices sitting at $3 for each book both days.

Sunday, Aug. 25 and Monday, Aug. 26 will see the book sale continue at the same start time until 4 p.m. with books at a reduced rate of $2 each, while Tuesday, the final day, will have books on sale for $1 each at the same time.

Onsite parking will be free on all days for attendees, who are also encouraged to bring their own bags to store purchased books.
