Time is running out to register for the “For the Health of it “workshop this Saturday (Sept. 22), 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at White Rock Community Centre.

The event is filling up fast and pre-registration is required, so call 604-541-8653 now to register.

New this year is a special keynote presentation by Gary Anaka, a brain-based learning facilitator. He will be presenting a fascinating workshop on brain wellness: secrets for longevity.

You will not want to miss it.

Also included at this free event is a resource fair, personal health assessment and active “Try It” classes including Movement for Fitness, Osteofit for Men and Zumba Gold (chair).

Mah jong has become a popular social activity.

Kent Street Activity Centre is pleased to offer a six-week program on how to understand and play the game.

Register by calling 604-541-2199 for this fun program that begins Tuesday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to noon.

A few spots are still open for two amazing excursions offered by the Kent Street Activity Centre.

On Monday, Oct. 22, visit the Canadian Museum of Flight in Langley, which houses over 25 aircraft both static and flying. Your registration fee includes a lunch buffet at Mr. A’s Patio.

Then on Friday, Nov. 23, visit some family owned and operated specialty stores with Pat Faulkner including Two EE’s market, Hen-Long and Grecos market . This trip includes a guided tour of the shops, lunch and snacks.

Something new on Thursday afternoons at the Kent Street Activity Centre is a Life Story program where you can come and share your stories in a relaxed and fun environment and then discover how to bring them to life on paper.

Register for this eight-week program with Sylvia Taylor beginning Thursday, Sept. 20, 1-3 p.m. Call 604-541-2199.

Do you enjoy woodworking in the company of friends?

Learn new tricks and expand your project repertoire at the Peninsula Woodcarvers, a Kent Street Activity group that meets at Semiahmoo Secondary Woodshop on Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m.

If you are interested in trying out this activity group, come down to the centre and pick up a pass that allows you to try out an activity group three times before purchasing a Recreation and Culture membership.

Did you know that the Kent Street Activity Centre hosts dances every Wednesday night in the auditorium?

Bring a friend or come on your own for a night of social dancing to the great sounds of a variety of bands. This week the Alpiners will be on stage.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with social dancing from 7-10. Only $8, or pay $6 if you have membership.
