Community camp nights coming to Alexandra Neighbourhood House

Starting July 4, adults can sample attractions at Crescent Beach institution.

Starting in July, adults will for the first time be able to attend summer camp at Alexandra Neighbourhood House in Crescent Beach.

The first in a series of Wednesday-evening Community Fun Nights begins July 4 with an Ice Cream Social starting at 6:30 p.m.

Cost is $3 per person.

Continuing through August, the weekly activities will include outdoor movie nights, a garden party, the "Crescent Beach Olympics" and a scavenger hunt at the camp, Alexandra Park and the beach.

“During past summers our camp has been mainly focused on providing residential camps for adults with disabilities, but this summer we have really opened our doors to include more of the community,” said Penny Bradley, Alexandra Neighbourhood House executive director.

“We want to give our neighbours a chance to be a part of Camp Alexandra and enjoy the community here.”

“These events are a great chance for people to come out and have fun at a low cost and to meet their neighbours,” said community programs assistant Jenn Bateman, who is organizing the events.

People don’t need to sign up, they can just drop in, she added.

"We’re hoping to attract families, youth, seniors, anyone who wants to participate," Bateman said.

"If you like the idea of camp and want to experience that with your family, friends and neighbours, this is the event for you!”

Camp Alexandra is located at 2916 McBride Ave. in the village of Crescent Beach.
