Cultures of the world were celebrated by students, staff and parents at Chantrell Creek Elementary on Wednesday.
The South Surrey school hosted a weeklong multicultural celebration with several presentations showcasing art, food, dance and customs from around the world.
On Wednesday, students went through a rotation of difference stations representing a unique cultural practice, including East Coast/Cape Breton “Kitchen Party” which featured White Rock/South Surrey Highland Dancers and local fiddle player Tina Kelly. Other presentations included a First Nations dancing demonstration, a Henna demonstration and Chinese silk painting.
Throughout the week, the school showcased colourful multicultural displays, such as maps, flags and artifacts, representing the varied backgrounds of students.
Students were also taught morning greetings in ten different languages spoken at Chantrell Creek, with music from around the world played during lunch.
