Empowerment camps set for summer

Surrey's DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society will be holding free "empowerment camps" for children and youth this summer.

This summer, Surrey’s DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society will be holding free “empowerment camps” for children and youth.

Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including how to identify and express emotions; healthy ways to express feelings of anger; self-esteem; conflict resolution, substance abuse, ant-bullying and more.

Through each camp, there will be presentations and daily fun activities. Snacks and lunch are also provided.

Two Monday-to-Thursday camps are scheduled. The first is set to run from July 16-19, and the second from July 23-26. Both camps run from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily.

Campers will be divided into age groups, with the youngest group – for those aged three to five – taking part from 10 a.m. until noon.
