Abreast in a Boat is inviting breast cancer survivors to a free paddle Sept. 29.

Breast cancer survivors are invited to test out the waters of dragon boating with a free introductory paddle Sept. 29, offered by non-profit society Abreast In a Boat.

The society, which has crews that compete around the world, will host the paddle at Granville Island, near the False Creek Community Centre, as part of their membership drive for the 2013 season.

Originally formed in 1996, Abreast in A Boat has six crews in the region and has spawned 150 similar organizations around the world.

The society aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and to encourage those living with breast cancer to live full and active lives.

The paddle takes place 9:30-11:30 a.m.

RSVP is required by Sept. 15
