The Fort McMurray wildfire caused extensive damage and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people.

An avid gardener's desire to help fire-ravaged Fort McMurray has raised more than $175 for the cause.

The funds were collected by the White Rock & District Garden Club in September and October through raffle-ticket sales, for which the prize was a bouquet of flowers painted by longtime club member Sheila Lovatt.

Lovatt, 91, has been a member of the club for 30 years.

Proceeds raised by the raffle will be sent to Fort McMurray to help beautify city gardens.
