White Rock/South Surrey Hospice's annual Hike for Hospice is set for May 6 in Blackie Spit Park.

Anyone interested is invited to register, collect pledges and complete a one-, three- or five-kilometre route between 9 a.m. and noon on event day.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit hospice programs, which are offered free-of-charge to families in the White Rock and South Surrey area.

“Without support from the community, we would not be able to run our free programs that help people cope with the advanced illness or loss of a loved one,” hospice society executive director Catherine Ferguson, said in a statement. “We appreciate the support that the Hike has received over the years.”

The hike, which will begin in Blackie Spit Park and run along the Crescent Beach waterfront, is being presented by the Rotary Club of White Rock Millennium.

Festivities for the family-friendly event are to include prizes for the top fundraisers, as well as music and food.
