Kwantlen instructor honoured

Kwantlen Polytechnic University instructor Chamkaur Cheema has been named a regional recipient for the 2011 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs award – announced last week – recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom.

As a regional recipient, Cheema is now a candidate for the 2011 ACBSP International Teaching Excellence Award, to be announced in June.

Cheema described the recognition by his colleagues and the ACBSP as "truly an honour." He credited his students, "who have always made teaching at Kwantlen the most amazing and rewarding career I have ever had.”

Kwantlen's David Wiens, associate dean in the School of Business, said Cheema "has proven himself an outstanding teacher, manager, coach and mentor of students."

“He knows firsthand what is transpiring in the field and readily shares that knowledge with his students, his colleagues and the administrative team in the School of Business.”

Cheema and other regional recipients will receive their awards at the 2011 ACBSP Annual Conference this June in Indianapolis, Ind.
