Lit Café to honour a one-time fixture

A selection of poems by the late David Slater will be read at the Jan. 23 Lit Café, at South Surrey's Alexandra Neighbourhood House

A one-time fixture of Alexandra Neighbourhood House's Lit Café will be honoured Jan. 23, on the second anniversary of his death.

Organizers say a selection of poems penned by the late David Slater will be read in the Canoe Room of the longhouse at the Crescent Beach facility, located at 2916 McBride Ave.

The evening also marks the tenth installment of the Lit Café series.

Verses: An Evening of Poetry is to feature a mixture of familiar faces – including Candice James, Bernice Lever and Cristy Watson – as well as newcomer Carol Tulpar.

There will also be an open mic for aspiring authors and poets; a panel discussion; and items available for purchase from the featured authors.

Lit Café takes place from 7-9 p.m. Admission is by donation.
