Lower Mainland Green Team (LMGT) founder Lyda Salatian (above, in orange) watches as volunteers – gathering Scotch broom – participate in a shoreline clean-up and invasive-plant removal at Blackie Spit Park on March 7.

The LMGT partnered with Friends of Semiahmoo Bay for the event.

At left, Coquitlam volunteer Kathy Hogarth removes Scotch broom, an ecologically destructive colonizing invasive plant species outside of its native Europe.

The LMGT organizes regular park cleanups and welcomes more volunteers. To learn more about upcoming events, click here.
