Navigating health care

Help is on the way for those looking to understand and navigate the health-care system while caring for someone with dementia.

The non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C. is offering a free tele-workshop Thursday, Feb. 24 for White Rock family caregivers and providers who want to upgrade their knowledge base.

Advocacy and Navigating the System starts at 7 p.m., and can be accessed by residents from home or work by telephone or the Internet. The session is to help participants make sense of the formal health-care system, and will look at how they can act as an advocate to ensure families get the help and support they need, when they need it.

The night features guest speaker Barbara Lindsay.
