New beginnings

The Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s White Rock Resource Centre is moving.

Currently located on Thrift Avenue, as of Oct. 3, it will be situated in the Centre for Active Living, at 14600 North Bluff Rd.

The move is anticipated to increase community awareness of the resource, and public awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.

Society CEO Jean Blake said the new location is “a great fit” as it will put the centre in close proximity to the Primary Care Access Clinic, which sees patients discharged from hospital who do not have a doctor.

“Some of these clients may be in need of the services of the society or they may feel more comfortable when already visiting Primary Care Access Clinic, dropping in to our office with it being in the same building,” Blake said.

The White Rock Resource Centre offers support groups and education programs for both family caregivers and people with early stage dementia.
