Peace Arch Hospital’s maternity ward is home to some brand new equipment thanks to a donation from Variety last month.

Representatives from the children’s charity presented a cheque for $78,000 to Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation, which will allow the hospital to purchase two new isolettes – also known as incubators for premature babies – and a mobile infant resuscitation warming unit.

“It has become difficult to obtain replacement parts for the old units, so the new units will be easier for our team to keep in service and deploy among the babies who need them most,” PAH maternity patient care co-ordinator Rhonda James said in a release.

Grants from Variety to Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation over the years now total close to $250,000, according to foundation executive director Jackie Smith.
