After 12 years on the board of the Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation, the group’s longest-serving member has stepped down.
“Kim (Karras) has served on virtually every committee and was chair of the board from 2004 to 2006. She will be missed at the board table, but she will not be far away,” foundation executive director Jackie Smith announced Wednesday, noting that she anticipates Karras will be involved in some capacity in the foundation’s future undertakings.
Karras, a partner at Brawn Karras and Sanderson Barristers and Solicitors, officially stepped down at the June 25 annual general meeting.
Smith also announced that Graham Cameron – the now-retired founder of Murphy Wall Beds – takes over as board chair from Jane Manning.
Also retiring from the board are lawyer Dale Bradford and Dr. Elizabeth Cant.
Brent Ellwyn, a lawyer at Cleveland Doan LLP, will join as a director and will serve on the planned giving committee.
Also at the AGM, board treasurer Don Smetheram presented the foundation’s audited financial statement as prepared by KPMG. Smetheram reported the foundation revenue for the fiscal year ending March 31 totalled $5.2 million.
Disbursements for the reporting period totalled $968,927.
