Peace Arch News Christmas Fund boosted

Semiahmoo Peninsula residents who added a charitable twist to their Grey Cup party donated $80 raised to the Peace Arch News Christmas Fund.

A group of Semiahmoo Peninsula residents added a charitable twist to their Grey Cup party this year.

Karolyn Donnelly and friends raised $80 for the Peace Arch News’ Christmas Fund, which was dropped off on Dec. 23.

On Nov. 27, each of the children who were at the get-together donated $2, with the parents helping out a bit, said Donnelly.

She said choosing the recipient of the donation was an easy one.

“We see the Peace Arch News everyday when we are driving home, so we thought, why don’t we donate to a good cause,” Donnelly said.

Funds donated are used to purchase gift certificates for the Sources’ White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank in December.

Over the past decade, the fund has raised more than $230,000.
