The Pebble Pedal to the Pier event is back for another year, in support of seniors and volunteer programs at Sources Community Resources Society.

The event, scheduled for Sept. 27 at 5 p.m., will see a handful of local business people, celebrities and media members peddle bikes from Crescent Beach to White Rock beach. And with each cyclist will be a pocket full of pebbles; the event is based on an old legend that states “good luck, good health, wealth, longevity and happiness will be granted to anyone who carries one pebble from one shore to another.”

Participants are raising money for Sources by collecting sponsorships for each pebble carried; one pebble is $20, a “family” of four pebbles is $60, and a handful goes for $100.

For more information, or to purchase a pebble online, visit www.sourcesbc.ca and scroll down to the Pebble Pedal information.
