Peninsula area grads net leadership awards

Eight local high school grads received Sir John A. Macdonald Student Leadership Awards last week.

Eight local high school grads received Sir John A. Macdonald Student Leadership Awards last week.

The award is presented to students in their graduating year who have demonstrated excellence in their studies and have displayed leadership qualities by serving roles in student government.

This year’s recipients: Sierra Ellis and Nicolas Huige of Earl Marriott Secondary; Marina Hooley and Sung Na of White Rock Christian Academy; Rachel Woo and Quince Bielka of Elgin Park Secondary; and Natalie Richardson and Andrei Dobre of Semiahmoo Secondary.

Dianne Watts, MP for South Surrey-White Rock, presented the awards Thursday, July 7 at Semiahmoo House.

The award was established in 2004 and includes a $500 cash scholarship.
