Friends and family will come together in White Rock to honour the life of one of the Peninsula’s veterans this week.
William (Bill) Sexsmith, 75, passed away suddenly March 14. The Navy veteran – who served during the Vietnam War – had more than 45 years of service under his belt, including a tour with the United Nation in 1979 and extensive work with the Royal Canadian Legion, which he was a life member of.
A service will be held for Sexsmith at the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, 15115 Roper Ave., April 4 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the B.C. Cancer Society in his memory.
In May 2013, Sexsmith was interviewed by Peace Arch News with friend and fellow decorated veteran Walter (Wally) Uden, 91, who passed away on Feb. 28.
As the representative for the White Rock Legion Branch 8, Sexsmith had submitted Uden’s story as a British soldier fighting on the beaches of Normandy during the Second World War.
Uden’s life and legacy was honoured March 30 at the Royal Canadian Legion.
