Earl Marriott Secondary’s annual traditional powwow gets underway at the South Surrey high school Friday evening.

Sponsored by the EMS First Nations program, the three-day event will include grand entries on each day (7 p.m. April 8; 1 and 7 p.m. April 9; and 1 p.m. April 10), as well as First Nations dancers, drumming, vendors, artist demonstrations and cuisine.

This is the 17th year for the powwow. Last year’s celebration drew an estimated 1,500 people.

Doors open Friday at 5:30 p.m. Admission is by donation. The school is located at 15751 16 Ave.
