The 2018 Realtors Care Blanket Drive netted more than 360 bags of warm clothing for South Surrey and White Rock families in need.

According to a news release issues by the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board last week, approximately 39,000 Lower Mainland residents received blankets and warm clothing this season through the blanket drive.

Between Nov. 13-20, more than 100 real-estate offices served as drop-off locations for donations. Realtor volunteers collected, sorted and delivered the donations to local charities.

“With the generous donations, we share unconditional love, hope and purpose with people suffering on the street with some of life’s most difficult situations – homelessness, poverty, addiction, and mental health,” NightShift Street Ministries community engagement manager Darren Dyck said in the release.

According to the release, the program is the largest and longest running blanket drive in the province. Since 1994, the program has helped more than 345,000 people keep warm and dry during the winter months.
