Eileen Wei will be among volunteers helping the Chinese Village Club celebrate Chinese New Year at Semiahmoo Centre this weekend.

It'll be 'Gung Hei Fat Choy' this Saturday (Jan. 28) at Semiahmoo Shopping Centre as the Chinese Village Club helps Peninsula residents celebrate Chinese New Year with colourful family friendly activities all day.

Chinese Village Club director Adele Yu said the event is a joint venture of the club and FCR Management Services.

"We'd like to utilize this opportunity to bring the community cross-cultural experience, encouraging communication," she said.

"We will have the dragon dance, martial arts, the lion dance and many other activities."

The celebration will start at 10 a.m. with calligraphy demonstrations, origami and paper crafting and a photo booth, all of which will continue until 5 p.m.

The traditional dragon dance is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with a flash mob presentation set for noon and 1 p.m.

At 3 p.m., there will be martial arts demonstrations by Chang's TaeKwonDo, followed at 4 p.m. by Motion Artistry, a showcase of Chinese folk music and dance.
