SENIORS SCENE: A fall full of activities at Kent Street Centre

The snooker room at the Kent Street Activity Centre has reopened for business.

Drop by and connect with new and old friends and play a game. Masks are required when playing and there is limited capacity. Remember, you can drop in three times and try the activity out before becoming a paid member of the centre.

• The Kent Street Activity Centre is closed today, Nov. 11, to remember the men and women who sacrificed for our country and to pause, to give thanks and to remember. Today at 10:45 a.m. there will be a ceremony at the Cenotaph at White Rock City Hall. The event is organized by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8 with support from the City of White Rock. Masks are recommended and please distance yourself from others.

• The next frozen-meal sale at the Kent Street Activity Centre will be Nov. 12, 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Stock up on a variety of low cost, nutritious and delicious frozen meals, soups, baked goods and jams. Call 604-541-2199 or check out the City of White Rock’s website at www.whiterockcity/seniors prior to the sale day to see the menu.

It is like having your own personal news feed. Get information on local events, celebrities, hobbies and interests and more. This workshop is on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Kent Street Activity Centre. Please call 604-541-2199 to register or visit whiterockcity.ca/register

• Don’t forget that the Kent Street Activity Centre coffee shop has started a take-out soup and sandwich service from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Drop down to the centre and pick up a freshly made sandwich, soup, cookie and coffee.

Just a reminder that the coffee shop takes cash only.

• CARP and the Semiahmoo Seniors Planning Table are hosting a Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2-4 p.m at the White Rock Community Centre.

Entertainment will be by Steve “Elvis” Elliott, and the event will also include refreshments, games, a photo booth and more. This event is free. To register, please call Denice at 604-538-5778 or 604-531-9400, ext. 220. A B.C. vaccine card and photo I.D. will be required at the door. Masks must be worn, unless seated.

• White Rock RCMP and White Rock Community Policing & Victim Services are hosting this year’s fourth annual children’s clothing drive at the White Rock detachment (15299 Pacific Avenue) on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to support local youth in need.

Once again, this year’s event is going to be drive-thru style. New children’s clothing is requested, as well as cash donations, with all donations going to Options Community Services & Sources Community Resource Centre.

Little oOtie’s Mini Donuts will be attending the event, and will donate part of its proceeds from bags of doughnuts sold to both Sources and Options.

The Kent Street Activity Centre located at 1475 Kent Street is open to persons 55 years of age or better. New members are welcome. Call the Centre at 604-541-2231.
