‘For the Health of It’ among upcoming events for seniors

Tickets are almost sold out for the Kent Street Seniors Society’s Annual Bridge Luncheon, Friday, Sept. 30.

Register with a partner and enjoy a delicious lunch followed by an afternoon of contract bridge.

Advance tickets are available at Kent Street Activity Centre, White Rock Community Centre and Centennial Park offices. No tickets at the door.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, seniors in the community are invited to attend “For the Health of It,” a fabulous day of technology and community workshops, Active “Try It” classes, amazing speakers, lunch, a resource fair and more at the White Rock Community Centre, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Leave your car at home, as AMICA White Rock has generously donated two shuttle buses providing service from Semiahmhoo Shopping Centre (pick up by Elegante Shoes) at 9:30, 9:45 and 10 a.m. to the White Rock Community Centre. Return shuttles at 2:45, 3 and 3:15 p.m.

As well, there will be shuttle bus service from Ocean Park Library at 9:30 and 10 a.m., returning at 3-3:30 p.m.

Make Friday afternoons a perfect opportunity to socialize, enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and have a nourishing and delicious meal.

The ever-popular Fresh and Lively Luncheons have started up for September.

They are held on the first three Fridays of the month at Kent Street Activity Centre.

Volunteers are needed to assist at this event with a variety of tasks including socializing with participants, taking registrations and more.

Learn to perform magic for your grandchildren and friends at a workshop at the Kent Street Activity Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Learn magic tricks with cards, coins and other objects in this special workshop led by magicians Jordan and Care. Minimal dexterity is required, and all participants receive a small magic kit to keep. Call 604-541-2199 to sign up.

Bring back the fun of cooking with Chef Pat in Tasty Connections, a cooking program where you create a meal, share a meal and take the delicious food home.

This unique class begins on Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Kent Street Activity Centre, 4-6 p.m.
