Seniors centre offers arts, culture, education and sense of community

Get into the spirit of Christmas at the Kent Street Activity Centre’s very own Mistletoe Luncheon on Thursday, Dec. from noon to 3 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious turkey dinner, festive entertainment and a visit from the jolly, old fellow himself.

Tickets are available for purchase from the centre and are for members and their guests.

Impress your family and friends by learning magic tricks with cards, coins and other objects at a magic workshop on Friday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m. till noon at Kent Street Activity Centre.

White Rock’s Remembrance Day Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony on Nov. 11 will begin with the annual parade starting at the corner of Roper Avenue and Johnston Road at 9:30 a.m., concluding at First United Church on Fir Street.

The wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the cenotaph located beside White Rock City Hall between 11 a.m. and noon.

Please note that all White Rock Recreation and Culture facilities including the Kent Street Activity Centre will be closed on Monday, Nov. 13, respectfully for Remembrance Day.

Fit with Diabetes is a program for those who individuals who have type 2 diabetes or are at risk for diabetes.

How much exercise do you need? How do you get started and how do you keep going? This three-session course is offered by Fraser Health at the Centre for Active Living starting Friday, Nov. 10.

Connect with nature and like-minded individuals on a weekly walk on nearby trails.

Spend approximately one-hour walking on the trails at a moderate pace. Transportation to the trail and an experienced instructor to lead the walk is included.

See you at the Kent Street Activity Centre for this week’s Wednesday evening dance for a night of social dancing to the great sounds of Sweetwater on stage in the Kent Street auditorium located at 1475 Kent St.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing from 7-10. Open to all ages 50+, singles, couples and includes refreshments at the break.
