Earthquake simulator to visit White Rock for Emergency Preparedness Week.

White Rock students will have a chance to experience the sensation of an earthquake this week, when the City of White Rock hosts an earthquake simulator.

The Quake Cottage – which provides a demonstration of what tremors up to a magnitude of 8.0 can feel like – will be at the White Rock Fire Hall (15315 Pacific Ave.) May 7 as part of Emergency Preparedness Week.

Students from the two local elementary schools – along with other community members – will be testing out the simulator from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Members of the public are invited to come down and observe; emergency responders will be on site distributing information about disaster preparedness.

The awareness campaign will see the Quake Cottage is travel throughout the Lower Mainland this week, and is sponsored by FortisBC and the Insurance Bureau of Canada.
