South Asian Health Centre offering six-week clinic

Surrey health centre to offer Pap tests by Punjabi-speaking nurse

The South Asian Health Centre will be running a six-week clinic aimed at increasing awareness on the importance of Pap tests in the South Asian community.

The health centre, located at 6830 King George Blvd., is a partnership between the Surrey-North Delta Division of Family Practice, Fraser Health and local family physicians and will hold the clinic on May 15, May 22, May 29, June 5, June 12 and June 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The test will be done by a Punjabi-speaking nurse practitioner.

According to the latest B.C. statistics, the number of women getting regular Pap tests is far lower in the South Asian community.
