A South Surrey youngster who decided her first haircut would support a program that helps kids who are living with serious illnesses has raised more than $2,600 for Wigs for Kids BC.
Ayva Bains committed to the ‘trim’ – of about eight inches – after learning about the program from her mom, Kirren Bains.
The cut was done on July 17 at Salon Blue in Fleetwood.
Kirren Bains said a fundraising page set up on BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s website – explaining Ayva’s initiative and aiming for $5,000 in donations – will stay active.
