For those who have not cemented their children’s spring-break schedules for the next two weeks, here are a few of the many activities being offered in the community:
Lego and science
There are two separate themes offered at Surrey Libraries for the next two weeks: Lego Robotics and Let’s Talk Science.n
Lego Robotics: Bricks 4 Kidz is described as a “hands-on session where kids have loads of fun (and learn a bunch!) as they use Lego bricks to explore the world of robotics. For kids ages six to 12.
The Lego Robotics schedule for the South Surrey and White Rock locations is as follows:
• March 18, 10-11 a.m., Newton
• March 19, 3-4 p.m., Ocean Park
• March 24, 2-3 p.m., Semiahmoo
• March 25. 10-11 a.m., Newton; 2-3 p.m., Cloverdale.
Let’s Talk Science is a program headed by Simon Fraser University science and technology students, offering school-aged children a variety of science-themed sessions.
Bright Lights, Big Science is for students in Grades 3-4. it runs March 18, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Cloverdale Library.
Crime Lab, at the Newton Library for students from Grades 5-7. runs March 20, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Bugs: Those You Can’t See! is a session designed especially for the youngsters, from kindergarten to Grade 4. Semiahmoo Library hosts that session March 21, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Ocean Park hosts Predator & Prey for students Grades 2 and up, March 24 from 1:30 - 5 p.m.

Book learning
Indigo at Grandview Corners (2453 161A st.) has a different story themes and/or activities each morning (11 a.m. to noon) during the first week of spring break.
Spring safari
The Urban Safari Rescue Society is offering a Spring Break Camp for those interested in more exotic creatures. From giant stick bugs to chameleons and frogs, the USRS will introduce children to all kinds of critters they likely won’t see in their own back yard. There are two separate one-week camps, based on age. March 17-21 is for six- to eight-year-olds, while those nine to 12 can attend week-long camp from March 24-28. The camps run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rec room
Looking for something for your preschooler during spring break? The rec centres have you covered.
Children can "play games, sing songs, create arts and crafts projects" and more during Camp Spring Break Adventures for preschoolers. There are still spots available at the South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre, the Newton Recreation Centre and the Cloverdale Recreation Centre. Morning and afternoon sessions. Camps run Monday through Friday.
