Indulge your knitting passion, find inspiration and browse a variety of knitting yarns and accessories at the Surrey Museum’s annual knitting fair, Pic-Knit, held Saturday, Aug 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is by donation.

Shop for your stash with local vendors, sign up for a workshop, and enjoy snacks from Indian restaurant “Smile”.

From hand-dyed and hand-spun yarns, to luscious silks and fibres for spinning your own custom yarn, there will be a variety of products to inspire and entice visitors. Find out about Children’s Hospital’s “Click for Babies” knitting program and how you can participate.

Visitors are also invited to browse the Hooser Textile Library’s extensive collection of rare books and patterns. You can see demonstrations of spinning and weaving in the Museum’s Textile Studio, which also features a rare Jacquard loom.

Sign up for a “Knitted Boot Cuffs” workshop on the same day from 10 to 4 p.m. Add a stylish touch to your favourite pair of boots and keep the cold out this fall with these attractive knitted accessories. Using worsted weight yarn and medium-sized needles you can explore variations in the basic pattern during this fun, creative class. The fee is $45. Pre-register at 604-592-6956.
