Deaf and hard-of-hearing students at BC Family Hearing Resource Society will have an enhanced learning experience with a new state-of-the-art hearing system purchased with funds donated by the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Association.
The students will be the first in the province to access the system, dubbed Roger, according to a news release, which added that the system enhances learning for students with a cochlear implant or hearing device by overcoming classroom noise and directly transmitting the voice of the teacher to the student
Firefighters from the Surrey Fire Department Hall 6 presented a cheque for $1,873 to the BCFHRS to help fund the new hearing system last month.
