A Surrey-based community organization invites people from all spiritual backgrounds to a day-long dialogue event aimed at deepening relationships and building trust between various groups that make up the city.
The Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society will host the Surrey Spiritual Summit Saturday (March 1) at Alexandra Neighbourhood House, 2916 McBride Ave., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is open to people “from all religious, spiritual and philosophical traditions,” including those who identify as agnostic, humanist or not observant.
Organizer David Dalley said the focus of the event is to build awareness and acceptance, but he also hopes for deeper interaction that may last after the summit has wrapped up.
“What I’d really, really like to see at events like this are those informal connections that people make,” he said. “They introduce each other, maybe they find out they have something in common, they exchange emails or phone numbers and that’s the sort of informal connections that I really think we need in our community to bridge those lines of difference that we set up arbitrarily.”
Registration is required and space is limited. The event is free and lunch will be provided.
