Reach Child and Youth Development Society is pairing with North Delta’s Tasty Indian Bistro for a fundraising event later this month.

A Taste of Reach will benefit the Reach Foundation’s Building for Children Together Campaign, which supports the constriction of the new three-story Lois E. Jackson Kinsmen Centre for Children.

The event is also aimed at raising awareness of the society’s services in the South Asian community. Consultant Monisha Jassi, who facilitates the Reach Punjabi-speaking parent support group, said, “many of the parents participating had never met other families who have children with special needs before” and often, for the first time, parents are able share stories and information and support one another.

A local family will speak at the event, relating their experience of the help their son received through Reach. It is hoped that this event will help families understand that help that is available to them if they have a child with needs.

“Tasty Bistro owner Inder Saini’s generosity in hosting, catering and actively participating in the planning of this event in support of Reach has been overwhelming. I cannot express the depth of our appreciation for his kindness,” said Kristin Bibbs, Reach’s fundraising manger.

When asked why he chose to support this event, Mr. Saini stated, “Every Sikh prayer ends with seeking the welfare of everyone in the world through helping others.”

Tickets are $85, on sale through reachchild.org/tasteofreach, and include a live auction, 50/50 draw and door prize. Gourmet appetizers will be offered with beverage parings, as well as a seated dinner.

Tasty Indian Bistro is located at 8295 120th St., North Delta.
