Students from a trio of South Surrey schools have added nearly 2,400 lbs of food to the Surrey Food Bank’s shelves.
The food – 428 lbs from Elgin Park Secondary, 645 lbs from White Rock Elementary and 1,314 lbs from Southridge School – was collected through a partnership dubbed the We Scare Hunger Campaign.
It was well-received.
“Thank you very much for delivering this food to us! Surrey Food Bank continues to support 14,000 clients a month in Surrey and North Delta and as you may know, 41% are babies and children under 18,” SFB events and communications co-ordinator Shamina Senaratne said in a thank-you email to one of the organizers.
“We thank all the students, parents and teachers at all three schools for their generous donations, and we thank you for getting them to us. We couldn’t do what we do for our neighbours in need without the support of so many, including your team and organizations like yours.”
