Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society raises $8,000

Donations collected at Christmas event last week

The Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society are calling it a “Christmas miracle.”

The White Rock Singers performed a Christmas concert at Peninsula United Church in Crescent Beach last week to benefit the society.

With the help of a $5,000 private donation, the society was able to secure $8,000 as a result of the event.

Longtime choir director Dave Proznick said his choir selected the society because cancer touches almost everyone’s life, and noted that several of his family members have had cancer.

“The work you people do motivates me, there is such a need for it,” Proznick said in a news release issued Dec. 11.

The society is still accepting donations at volunteercancerdrivers.ca
