White Rock has two green initiative activities planned, with the team looking to recruit more members.
The Lower Mainland Green Team can often be seen frequenting White Rock’s natural locations, removing invasive plants. Next up on their list is Ruth Johnson Park this weekend on May 25 at 9:45 a.m.
At Ruth Johnson, English Ivy and English Holly plants will be targeted, with interested folks invited to email andrea@greenteamscanada.ca to reserve their spot.
If the Saturday event is a no-go for some interested in the team’s work, there will be another opportunity in White Rock next month. With the goal of removing invasive small balsam plants, the event will be held on Jun 16 at 9:45 a.m.
“This plant is very easy to remove (you just pluck it out of the ground!) which makes it the perfect family-friendly activity for all-ages!” program co-ordinator Andrea Robles shared in an email.
Experience in removing invasive plants is not necessary, with the activity confirmed to take place both days, whether rain or shine.
