Dark, damp skies and blustery weather didn't deter hundreds from paying their respects at this year's Remembrance Day service in Cloverdale.
A sizable crowed turned out for the Nov. 11 event, which included a veterans' parade to Surrey Museum Plaza, led by a colour party from Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6 (Cloverdale) and the Ladies' Auxiliary.
Local veterans were joined by members of the Surrey RCMP, 746 Lightning Hawk Air Cadets Squadron, Seaforth Highlanders Army Cadet Corps 2812 Surrey, emergency services personnel and local Guides and Scouts along with crowds of spectators who gathered for the ceremony and service.
Two flypasts featuring vintage Second World War aircraft soared overhead during the service, which was followed by the laying of wreaths by local veterans, dignitaries and residents.
The Remembrance Day service also featured the RCMP's E Division pipe band, prayers, a moment of silence and the last post.
Locally, ceremonies were also held in Whalley, North Delta, Port Kells and Crescent Beach.
