Walking for a cure

The fourth annual Surrey Walk for ALS will be held this month at Bear Creek Park.

The June 11 event is to raise money to support research into the cause of and cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a neurodegenerative disorder that results in weakness and wasting in arms, legs, mouth, throat and elsewhere. Typically, the person is immobilized or deceased within two to five years of diagnosis.

Proceeds from the five-kilometre walk will also support patient services provided by the ALS Society of B.C.

Registration is at 10 a.m., with the five-kilometre walk getting started at 11 a.m.
