Businesses turned down the heat and collected warm garments for the needy last month for Turn Down the Heat Week.
The campaign – a collaboration between Fortis BC and Business Improvement Areas of B.C. – challenged 21 business communities across the province to conserve energy and collect donations of warm sweaters for charity from Feb. 1-8.
Locally, the White Rock BIA had 15 businesses participating in the fundraiser.
The merchants collected 20 coats, 111 sweaters, three blouses, 10 pairs of pants and more for the White Rock/South Surrey Hospice society.
