Fundraisers continue to be organized to aid residents who were displaced by the May 15 fire in White Rock.

Efforts to help victims of the May 15 fire in White Rock's Five Corners District continue, with at least three more fundraising initiatives underway.

The Peninsula Pastors Network, in conjunction with the City of White Rock, is encouraging donations to the Pentecost Sunday Fire Relief Fund on June 5.

Rev. Peter Klenner said donations can be made during any church service that day.

"I'm calling on all Christians in White Rock and South Surrey to show these victims the same love and grace with which we are familiar," he writes in a letter distributed to Peninsula churches last week.

Funds collected June 5 will be passed on to Sources Community Resource Centres for distribution.

At Semiahmoo Shopping Centre, officials said they are pitching in with Peace Arch News and the Rotary Club of White Rock for the We CAN Help fundraiser, distributing donation cans to businesses throughout the Peninsula to collect funds that will benefit residents who were devastated by the fire.

The cans will be picked up June 10, and the funds forwarded to Sources.

A third fundraiser, set for June 2 at Ocean Park Village Pub (12822 16 Ave.) – and originally planned to benefit Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation – will now also benefit fire victims, Curtis Christopherson, president of Peninsula Community Foundation announced Wednesday.

"The Peninsula Community Foundation is all about connecting community causes," Christopherson said by email. "Due to the recent fire… it is evident there is a great need."

A portion of the funds raised at the Love Your Community event will be donated to that cause, Christopherson said.
