White Rock man pushing for GMO labeling

Ross Phillips has created an online petition that has received support from dozens

A White Rock man is pushing the federal government for increased disclosure on food labels.

Ross Phillips, 68, has created an online petition on change.org asking for food labelling to include whether or not the product has genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

So far, the petition has more than 340 supporters.

"The federal government is revising all the food labels on food products and they have asked for input into what people would like to see and I think that a lot of people want to know if the food they're eating contain GMOs or not," he told Peace Arch News last week.

"I think that if they're going to change labels that now would be the time to be up front and honest about whether or not there are any GMOs in the food. So that consumers have a choice."
