White Rock RCMP issue warning

Constable warns against walking and using cellphone after close call

A close call for a White Rock woman is a good reminder that driving is not the only activity that can be dangerous while using a cellphone, police say.

Const. Shaileshni Molison said a 41-year-old woman who was distracted by her phone while walking was lucky to escape serious injury when she was hit by a car reversing out of a parking spot Tuesday (Oct. 28).

The woman was apparently reading her phone while walking between two vehicles, Molison said.

“It’s a good reminder to people to just be cautious,” Molison said.

No injuries were reported, however police are still investigating.
