Two White Rock residents have received a boost towards their education, as recipients of BC Housing Education Awards.

Two White Rock residents have received a boost towards their education, as recipients of BC Housing Education Awards.

Zara Alfonso was presented a $750 BC Housing Bursary Award, which she can use to pursue basic, vocational or post-secondary education on a full- or part-time basis.

Michael Steel received a $1,000 BC Housing Award for Full-Time Studies. Alfonso’s bursary was among 72 handed out to youth and adults aged 17 to 64 years; in addition to Steel, nine people pursuing post-secondary or vocational education full time also received the $1,000 award. Other awards presented were the Margaret Mitchell Outstanding Achievement Award, the Minerva Foundation Award for B.C. Women and the Kinloch Education Award for women.
