Urban Safari Rescue Society and Cinemazoo will be hosting an open house event Aug. 14 at their new animal shelter, 1395 176 St.

Along with their regular lineup of reptiles, turtles, tarantulas, scorpions and lizards, there will also be a petting zoo, birds of prey, bee beards, live music, fun education activities for kids and lots for adults to do, too. Visitors can look forward to prizes and free hot dogs, and can even watch a Chihuahua riding on the back of a tortoise.

Urban Safari will also be collecting empty cans and bottles and holding a silent auction to raise money for the care of the more than 100 exotic animals housed in its new facility.

For more information or to donate, email info@cinemazoo.com or call 604-299-6963.
