One of late artist Voja Morosan’s iconic views of White Rock is now on display at White Rock Community Centre.

An official unveiling of the work, which shows the White Rock pier as it appeared in the late 1990s, took place Thursday at the centre, at 15154 Russell Ave., with Morosan’s widow, Norma and Mayor Darryl Walker

The painting, on extended display at the centre is one now in the permanent collection of the City of White Rock.

The Belgrade-born Morosan (1941-2008), who came to Canada in 1968, moved to White Rock in 1996, after a distinguished career in Ontario art circles.

He became a familiar figure in the city, setting up his easel regularly on street corners to capture many scenes of the evolving face of the city, almost always with his faithful Yorkshire terrier, Pebbles by his side.

A major retrospective of Morosan’s work is planned for White Rock Museum and Archives in the spring of 2023.
