Juno award-winning jazz trumpeter Gabriel Mark Hasselbach will play a special Mother’s Day event May 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Blue Frog Studios, 1328 Johnston Rd.
It’s an intimate concert billed as Smooth Jazz, Chocolate and Champagne – the latter two components courtesy of the studio, which will also be recording the performance for a live CD and DVD.
The bandleader, an original member of the legendary Powder Blues Band just notched a win for Smooth Jazz Album of the Year for his CD Told Ya So featuring such jazz talents as Jeff Lorber, Paul Brown, Marc Antoine and Miles Black.
Hasselbach will also donate a portion of proceeeds from CDs sold at the event to the Red Cross Japan Relief fund.
