A Halloween-month tour will bring “The Vampire Circus” to a Surrey theatre this fall.

Oct. 11 is the show date at Bell Performing Arts Centre for what looks to be a horror-circus production where Tim Burton meets Cirque Du Soleil.

Based in Miami, the travelling circus is founded by Francisco Santos.

“The show has (been) performing since 2010, touring all over the world,” Santos told the Now-Leader via email. “I’m the 8th generation of a circus family from Spain and I was part of Cirque Du Soleil for 13 years.”

The 90-minute theatre show is recommended for audience members aged 13-plus.

“Take a spirited journey through an abandoned cemetery and discover an extraordinary circus like no other,” suggests a post on thevampirecircus.com.

“Populated by a motley collection of off-the-wall characters and incomparable acrobats, The Vampire Circus is a visual vortex set in a twisted acrobatic fantasy universe.”

The show is set in Bohemia during the 19th Century where Count Dracula “contemplates a plan for world domination (and) decides to open a traveling circus with his gypsy bodyguards. The Vampire Circus is a perfect cover-up to travel unnoticed and begin his world reign of terror and turn all humans into an army of vampires for global dominance.

“With Vampire Circus, audiences are fully integrated into what is happening in front of them, surrounding them, and at times ‘inside’ of them.”

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show at the Bell start at $56.30 for balcony seats, on bellperformingartscentre.com, or call 604-507-6355.

Other shows coming to the Surrey theatre this year include a “Menopause the Musical” sequel called “Cruising Through ‘The Change,’” on Friday, Sept. 15. The theatre is also a stage for several tribute shows including two featuring the music of ABBA (one in June, another in September), and an Australian Bee Gees Show in October.

The Bell’s calendar also highlights the comedy show “My One & Only” starring Im Hussein, the Four Seasons musical tribute “Oh What A Night!” and the return of James and Jamesy in “O Christmas Tea: A British Comedy.”
