Winners named in photo challenge

Ted Akune of Crescent Beach Photo Club was Visitors Gallery winner at last weekend's Black and White Challenge.

The Crescent Beach Photography Club's Black and White Challenge drew more than 100 photo enthusiasts to St. Mark's Anglican Church hall on April 16.

The Richmond Photography Club took home the prestigious CBPC Black and White trophy, scoring the highest combined number of judging points – 136 – in a closely contested competition.

CBPC,  with 133 points, placed sixth, out of 13 clubs participating, a finish Geoff Hayes, co-chair of the competition, described as "very respectable."

First prize, a Canadian Association for Photographic Art gold medal, went to Philip Tam of the Chung Ai club; the silver medal went to Phil Dyer of the Abbotsford Photo and Arts Club and the bronze was awarded to Tharaka Mapalagama, of the Richmond Photography Club.

Honourable mentions went to Ellie Schartner also of Abbotsford, Natalya Gunde of the North Shore Photographic Society and Bruce Fairman of the New Westminster Photographic Society.

CBPC's Ted Akune won the audience vote as Visitors Gallery winner with his photograph 'Lost In Thought'.
